Pastoral Care

Student Information

International Aviation Academy of New Zealand (IAANZ) has agreed to observe and be bound by The Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021 which can be found on the NZQA website at www.nzqa.govt.nz.

This Code establishes the care and support standards that are required of tertiary education providers. Refer to the following link for videos that explain what the Code entails.
We want students learning with us to have a positive and memorable experience. Therefore, we are here to help in any way we can.

Orientation

In order for students to feel welcome, familiar with our facilities and be able to connect students with their peers and staff, IAANZ hosts and encourages students to participate in Orientation day.

Community Building

To ensure students are provided social, cultural and community wellbeing, IAANZ Student Voice hosts a handful of social events and group activities to enhance student’s studying experience and build friendships.

Accommodation

IAANZ does not have any onsite accommodation, however, we can provide advice and assistance to students. We can advise you on where to look for housing as well as what to be wary of when renting in New Zealand. Please refer to the Accommodation section of our website or contact us for additional information.

Health and Wellbeing

Your overall wellbeing is critical to your professional success. As a result, we urge you to get help at any moment. If you need support, don’t be hesitant to ask for it — we’re here to help. Please refer to the following links for more insight

Immigration

Details of immigration requirements can be found on the immigration requirements section of our website.

Health Services

Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health, and can be viewed on their website at www.moh.govt.nz. For more information about insurance please refer to our Student Insurance section of our website.

Student Services

For any assistance or guidance with any issues with your studies, housing, health, money, adjusting to life in New Zealand, or work, please contact our Student Services team or email them at StudentAdmin@iaanz.co.nz as they are there to help you.

Accident Insurance

The Accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents, and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. Further information can be viewed on the ACC website at www.acc.co.nz.

Student Voice

Our Student Voice team are here to help students feel heard. They are also here to foster student-instructor cooperation, develop and sustain a healthy atmosphere and culture at the Academy and be a students point of contact if you have any concerns about the Academy.

Medical and Travel Insurance

International students (including group students) must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while in New Zealand. Your insurance must cover you whilst you are training in the aircraft. We recommend StudentSafe.

Please see Student Insurance section on our website for more information regarding Insurance.
